While cleaning in Mohalla Nanger Ban Pura in Faisalabad, a Faisalabad worker, Nusrat Bibi, discovered a packet in the garbage that contained bundles of banknotes totaling nine lakh rupees (Rs 900,000).
Without hesitation she informed her supervisor and handed the packet over to the cleaning company office. The amount was carefully counted and verified, confirming the substantial sum.
The original owner was later located in the neighbourhood and said the money had accidentally been thrown out during house cleaning. After confirming ownership, the packet was returned to him.
The Deputy Commissioner’s office held a ceremony to recognize Nusrat Bibi’s integrity. The owner rewarded her with Rs 100,000, the cleaning company presented Rs 100,000, and the Deputy Commissioner also awarded Rs 100,000. In addition, the DC facilitated employment for her son as a mark of appreciation.
Her conduct has been widely praised across the city as an example of honesty and duty. The Faisalabad worker’s actions have become a local reminder of the value of integrity in public service.
