Workers mark Bhutto 98th Birthday in Rawalpindi as PPP leaders praise his legacy and call for unity, reform and national resilience.

Pakistan Peoples Party Rawalpindi Workers Union held a ceremony at a local hotel to mark the Bhutto 98th Birthday, bringing party activists and local leaders together to commemorate the life and legacy of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.

Speakers at the event included Workers Union head Banaras Choudhry, PPP Germany spokesperson Amjad Butt, Peoples Lawyers Forum divisional president Syed Masood Shah Advocate, former information secretary and deputy nazim Nasser Mir, Workers Union spokesman Raja Zaheer Iqbal and other senior party figures who paid tribute to Bhutto’s political vision and leadership.

Many local leaders and activists joined the gathering, among them former councillor Munirullah Butt, Falak Sher Lodhi, Chaudhry Safdar Chauhan, Yad Mir Khan, Mohsin Raza, Mazhar Hussain, Malik Azhar Khan, Tanvir Khan, Jahangir Butt, Malik Nadeem Awan, Anwar Khan Jadun, Mian Altaf Butt, Chaudhry Akram, Sadia Abbasi, Kausar Altaf Satti, Shabana Ilyas, Nasreen Bibi and Salma Bibi who attended alongside rank-and-file workers.

Speakers remembered Bhutto for taking politics to the common citizen and for expanding the franchise, and they highlighted the 1973 consensus constitution as a defining achievement that enshrined federal governance, the parliamentary system and basic rights. Party leaders credited Bhutto with strengthening national defence initiatives and described his policies as central to Pakistan’s strategic posture. They also repeated party assertions about historical confrontations and the role of state policy in national security as part of Bhutto’s legacy.

Addressing the audience, party representatives expressed confidence that Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will articulate public aspirations and work to address poverty, inflation, unemployment and political instability. The leaders urged unity and renewed commitment to the party’s founding principles as they celebrated the Bhutto 98th Birthday.

The ceremony concluded with the cutting of a commemorative cake and a collective Fatiha for the founder chairperson, as participants reaffirmed their dedication to preserving and advancing the ideals associated with Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
