The Kashmir Squash tournament at the PSB Coaching Centre Peshawar brought together more than 150 male and female players from across the city as part of Kashmir Solidarity Day activities, giving young athletes a prominent platform to display their skills.
Matches took place at the PSB Mohibullah Khan Squash Complex under the supervision of PSB squash coach Shahzad Mohib and concluded smoothly. The closing ceremony was graced by squash legend Mohibullah Khan as chief guest, with Director Muhammad Akram Batti and coach Shahzad Mohib among other guests in attendance.
Director Muhammad Akram Batti said Kashmir Solidarity Day symbolizes Pakistan’s steadfast support for the Kashmiri people and highlighted the Pakistan Sports Board’s efforts to promote sporting events alongside national observances to foster awareness, unity and patriotism among youth. He added that PSB is committed to identifying and nurturing new talent at the grassroots through regular competitions.
Former champion Mohibullah Khan praised the Pakistan Sports Board’s role in developing sports across the country, emphasising that engagement in sports keeps young people focused on positive pursuits and strengthens national cohesion. He also paid tribute to the ongoing struggle of the Kashmiri people on the occasion.
Prizes were presented to players who delivered outstanding performances, and organisers singled out the work of coach Shahzad Mohib for special appreciation. Participants expressed hope that the Kashmir Squash event will become a recurring opportunity to help promising players from Peshawar progress and excel in the sport.
