Pakistan Turkmenistan ties strengthened as the Parliamentary Friendship Group met Turkmenistan's ambassador to discuss trade, connectivity and parliamentary exchanges.

A delegation of the Pakistan–Turkmenistan Parliamentary Friendship Group, convened by Mr. Sanjay Perwani, MNA, met H.E. Mr. Atadjan Movlamov, Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Pakistan at the Turkmenistan Embassy in Islamabad on February 11, 2026. Members present included Mr. Fateh Ullah Khan, Rana Muhammad Qasim Noon, Mr. Nazir Ahmed Bhugio, Mr. Arshad Abdullah Vohra, Dr. Darshan and Ms. Naima Kanwal.

The Ambassador delivered a detailed presentation on Turkmenistan’s political system, constitutional framework and parliamentary structure, and explained the country’s foreign policy anchored in permanent neutrality, peace and regional cooperation. He outlined Turkmenistan’s developmental priorities, its economic outlook and active engagement in multilateral forums aimed at promoting dialogue, trust and regional stability.

During the briefing the Ambassador highlighted the potential of Turkmenistan’s tourism sector, noting its expansive landscapes and the country’s special breed of horses as unique assets. Attendees discussed how cultural and tourism linkages could complement economic and transport cooperation between the two countries.

Dialogue focused on the current state of bilateral relations and practical steps to strengthen inter-parliamentary engagement through the respective Parliamentary Friendship Groups. Members explored opportunities to enhance trade, improve connectivity and develop transport linkages that support broader economic cooperation and mutually beneficial projects.

Participants appreciated the comprehensive briefing and acknowledged Turkmenistan’s efforts toward regional cooperation and sustainable development. They stressed the importance of regular dialogue, reciprocal parliamentary delegations and sustained people-to-people interaction to further consolidate longstanding Pakistan Turkmenistan ties.

The convener reiterated that Parliamentary Friendship Groups serve as an effective institutional mechanism to foster understanding, coordination and cooperation between legislatures. Both sides expressed satisfaction with the positive trajectory of relations and agreed to maintain close contact for future engagements to deepen parliamentary and economic cooperation.
