On World Radio Day Riphah International University’s Department of Communication and Radio Pakistan Rawalpindi successfully concluded a Digital Content Contest in Islamabad on 12 February, with students from twin cities universities presenting innovative digital storytelling and radio-focused projects.
The closing ceremony brought together Riphah leadership and Radio Pakistan officials, including Professor Dr Anees Ahmed, Vice Chancellor of Riphah International University, Ms Musarrat Sharak, Director Programs at Radio Pakistan, and Station Director Atif with his team, alongside faculty members, media professionals and a large gathering of students.
Dr Riaz Adil, Head of the Riphah Institute of Media Sciences, described Radio Pakistan as a national asset that plays a vital role in promoting national identity and public awareness. He congratulated all participants and winners, underlining that the creative abilities of youth are key to the country’s bright future.
In his remarks the Vice Chancellor traced the historical and social importance of radio, noting its role before and after Pakistan’s independence as a voice of the people that fostered unity and informed society. He urged students to recognise the continuing relevance of radio in the digital age and to champion responsible communication as they develop content.
Ms Musarrat Sharak praised radio as one of Pakistan’s most powerful communication platforms and welcomed the collaboration between the Riphah Institute of Media Sciences and Radio Pakistan Rawalpindi, saying events like the Digital Content Contest encourage young people to use media in constructive and positive ways.
The event closed with performance-based certificates distributed to students who demonstrated outstanding work, marking a successful celebration of World Radio Day that highlighted the intersection of traditional radio values and contemporary digital content innovation.
