Parliamentary Oversight strengthened at a two-day national dialogue to boost counterterrorism and countering terrorist financing capacities across Pakistan.

SSDO Pakistan, with support from the British High Commission, organised a two day national dialogue focused on enhancing parliamentary oversight and institutional capacities for counter terrorism and countering terrorist financing in Pakistan. The forum brought attention to the central role of parliamentary oversight in shaping effective national responses to security and financial threats.

The opening ceremony was addressed by the Chief Guest, Honorable Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa H.E. Faisal Karim Kundi. The session also featured remarks by the Keynote Speaker, National Coordinator of NACTA H.E. Jawad Dogger, and Security and Justice Counsellor at the British High Commission H.E. Alasdair Grant, underscoring cooperation between national institutions and international partners on counterterrorism and countering terrorist financing.

Throughout the two day dialogue participants examined practical approaches to strengthen parliamentary oversight of security institutions and to build institutional capacity for detecting and disrupting terrorist financing. Emphasis was placed on aligning legislative scrutiny with operational needs so Parliament can effectively monitor and guide counterterrorism policy and resource allocation.

Speakers highlighted the importance of sustained oversight and interagency coordination to protect communities across Pakistan, including provinces such as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The dialogue aimed to translate discussions into actionable steps that reinforce oversight mechanisms and enhance institutional readiness against evolving threats.
