Pakistan Hockey ad hoc PHF president pledges to revive the sport, lift Hammad Butt ban, strengthen governance and prepare for democratic elections.

As the newly appointed ad hoc President of the Pakistan Hockey Federation, Secretary Inter-Provincial Coordination Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani has pledged a focused program to revive Pakistan Hockey by stabilizing the federation, rebuilding trust and revamping team management.

He said immediate work will address pressing operational issues while a medium-term plan will set a strategic vision to improve coaching, modernise training and strengthen coordination among institutions that support the sport. The plan emphasises practical measures to raise standards at all levels and restore competitive consistency.

Governance reforms will be prioritised, with steps to ensure efficient resource management and transparent decision-making. The ad hoc administration will also seek private sector partnerships to provide sustainable support for players so athletes can concentrate on training and matches while the federation handles administration and logistics.

Mr Wani confirmed that elections will be conducted to ensure a democratic transition to a new leadership and said he has immediately lifted the ban on national team captain Hammad Butt. He underlined that transparency and fairness will guide all decisions and thanked the Honorable Prime Minister for the trust placed in the ad hoc setup. The administration has called on all stakeholders to work together to restore the glory of Pakistan Hockey.
