Security forces foiled an attempted suicide attack in Bannu after receiving credible intelligence about the presence of militants, leading to an exchange of fire in which five terrorists were eliminated.

The operation prevented what could have been a major strike. Lieutenant Colonel Shehzada Gulfraz, 43, of District Mansehra, and Sepoy Karamat Shah, 28, of District Peshawar, embraced martyrdom while defending the nation.

Dr Shaista Khan Jadun and MNA Aasiya Naz Tanoli paid tribute to the courage, professionalism and sacrifice of the two officers, extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the elevation of the martyrs’ ranks and for patience and strength for their loved ones during this difficult time.

The MNAs said the Bannu attack cannot weaken the resolve of the Pakistani nation, commending the timely and decisive response by security forces that neutralised five terrorists and averted further destruction. They highlighted the preparedness and determination of the armed forces to eliminate all threats to national security.

Both lawmakers reaffirmed their full support for ongoing counter-terrorism efforts under Azm-e-Istehkam, stressing that operations against militancy will continue with full force until complete peace and stability are restored and reiterating that terrorist elements acting against Pakistan will not succeed.

The MNAs emphasised that the entire nation stands united with the Pakistan Armed Forces in the fight against extremism and reaffirmed commitment to safeguarding the country’s sovereignty and public safety.
