On March 4, 2026, Syed Naveed Qamar, senior leader of the Pakistan People’s Party and member of the National Assembly, paid a visit to the Iranian embassy in Islamabad as part of an official Iran embassy visit. As convener of the Pakistan-Iran Parliamentary Friendship Group he opened the condolence book and recorded his sympathies with the Iranian government and people.
During the Iran embassy visit Mr. Qamar expressed deep sorrow over the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader and the loss of innocent women and children in the recent military aggression. He described the event as a grave blow not only to Iran but to the wider Muslim community, and conveyed Pakistan’s heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims.
Mr. Qamar emphasized the need for adherence to international law, respect for state sovereignty and pursuit of peaceful, diplomatic solutions to conflicts. He called on regional actors and the international community to work toward de-escalation and to protect civilians from further harm.
Speaking on behalf of the people of Pakistan and the parliament, he said ties between Pakistan and Iran are rooted in historical and cultural bonds and grow stronger in times of trial. He prayed for the elevation of the departed and offered condolences and steadfastness to the bereaved families and the Iranian nation.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment, Mr. Qamar underlined that the parliament will continue to support initiatives that promote peace, stability and mutual respect across the region. His remarks during the Iran embassy visit reflected a focus on solidarity, diplomatic engagement and safeguarding humanitarian concerns amid ongoing tensions.
