The Islamabad Kabaddi Association has appointed Rakhshanda Tasneem as Vice President of its Women Kabaddi Wing in recognition of her services and commitment to promoting sport in the capital. The move aims to give renewed attention to women athletes and the traditional game across Islamabad.

A notification issued from the Office of the President of the Islamabad Kabaddi Association states that Ms Tasneem will carry out her responsibilities under the association’s constitution, rules and regulations. Her remit will centre on developing and promoting Women Kabaddi activities, with practical steps planned at club and community levels.

The association said the appointment was made with the approval of the President and is seen as an important step towards encouraging greater women’s participation in traditional sports. Officials described the decision as a way to create more opportunities for female athletes and to highlight the role of women in Pakistan’s sporting culture.

As part of this push, the Islamabad Kabaddi Association announced plans to organise a Women Kabaddi League in the near future. The league is intended to provide a formal platform for women players to showcase their talent, increase visibility for the sport among girls and women in Islamabad, and support the growth of Women Kabaddi at the local level.

Officials said the newly formed Women Kabaddi Wing will work to strengthen grassroots participation, coordinate events and training, and support aspiring players as the association moves to expand women’s engagement in kabaddi across the city.
