MGN Pakistan opens Offshore Centres in Karachi and Lahore, boosting digital operations and workforce growth with over USD 40 million invested.

Mashreq has opened new Offshore Centres in Karachi and Lahore to expand digital operations and accelerate capability building through MGN Pakistan. The move follows more than USD 40 million deployed to support local talent, technology and digital banking infrastructure.

The expansion widens access to opportunity across Pakistan by strengthening a distributed workforce model. MGN Pakistan now draws professionals from more than 30 cities and operates a merit-based hiring framework that has helped the operation more than double its headcount in three years to over 520 employees, with further growth planned as part of Mashreq’s global operating strategy.

Mark Edwards, Group Head of Operations, Mashreq Group said “The Offshore Centres in Karachi and Lahore are an important part of Mashreq’s distributed operating model. They allow us to tap into Pakistan’s expanding digital and financial talent pool, while reinforcing our commitment to operational excellence and innovation across the Group.” This expansion is intended to reinforce operational resilience while creating new roles across digital and financial technology functions.

MGN Pakistan has introduced structured programs for upskilling, career mobility and gender inclusion so young professionals can build technical and operational careers without relocating abroad. Women make up 35% of the workforce at MGN Pakistan, a participation ratio among the higher levels seen in the local financial sector.

Muhammad Hamayun Sajjad, CEO Mashreq Pakistan said the Offshore Centres reflect a long-term view of Pakistan’s talent and digital potential and open fresh channels for Pakistani professionals to contribute to global financial services. The centres are positioned to offer clear career pathways and performance-based progression for local hires.

Demand for digital financial services in Pakistan has risen with stronger digital payments infrastructure and increased smartphone penetration, and MGN Pakistan aims to support this momentum by creating employment pathways and accelerating capability development. The workplace has also received external recognition for culture and gender inclusion, including assessments such as Great Place to Work and Best Organization for Women.

Faisal Muqeet, Head of Mashreq Global Network Pakistan said MGN Pakistan will be strengthened as an Offshore Centre built on merit, diversity and performance so that talent from across the country can play a meaningful role in Mashreq’s global operations. The expansion complements Mashreq’s wider activities in Pakistan following the launch of a full-service digital retail bank in September 2025 and a series of partnerships focused on financial inclusion, SME support and digital adoption.
