The District Health Office Islamabad organized an awareness walk to promote dengue prevention, drawing participants from across the city’s professional and community circles. The event was led by District Health Officer Dr Syeda Rashida Batool, who guided participants through the campaign and emphasized the need for sustained public vigilance.
Participants received practical guidance on dengue prevention, including steps to eliminate mosquito breeding sites by ensuring no stagnant water, keeping water containers clean, wearing full-sleeve clothing, using insect repellent sprays or lotions, and ensuring mosquito nets and window screens are in place. Community engagement activities were used to carry the prevention message to neighbourhoods and marketplaces effectively.
Alongside the awareness walk the District Health Office has begun a coordinated citywide dengue surveillance and control programme to ensure timely interventions and curb outbreaks. Officials stressed that dengue prevention requires both government action and community cooperation to be effective.
Residents are urged to follow health department guidance and adopt the recommended precautions to protect themselves and their families; the department reminded everyone that preventing dengue is a shared responsibility.
