ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Housing and Works Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada on Wednesday expressed grave concern over prolonged delays in the completion of the Green Enclave-I and Lifestyle Residency projects and directed the Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA) to take immediate and effective measures to address the issues.
The minister issued the directions while chairing the 50th Executive Board Meeting of the FGEHA, according to a press release issued by the Ministry of Housing and Works.
At the outset of the meeting, the minister strongly questioned FGEHA authorities over the inordinate delays in the projects and sought detailed explanations regarding the lack of progress.
He said he had repeatedly been required to respond before Parliamentary and Senate committees, as well as various oversight forums, about the progress of these projects. He expressed concern that, despite the passage of nearly three years, the projects had not achieved the desired progress.
Taking notice of media reports regarding protests by the allottees of Green Enclave-I and their approach to the Federal Ombudsman, the minister emphasised that the concerns of the allottees could not be ignored.
He directed the authority to demonstrate transparency, accountability and efficiency in resolving the issues and to ensure that all possible measures were taken for the completion of the projects.
The minister further directed that all pending inquiry reports be submitted within the stipulated timelines and called for immediate action on their findings.
He observed that unnecessary delays in the completion of inquiries were further aggravating the situation and creating uncertainty for senior bureaucrats as well as lower-grade officers and officials who had invested their hard-earned money in the hope of securing their own homes but continued to wait unjustly for completion of the projects.
Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada directed the FGEHA Board to take appropriate action in accordance with the findings and recommendations of the inquiry reports, ensuring that the process remained fair, transparent, justified and timely.
During the meeting, the FGEHA Executive Board also considered and approved the authority’s annual budget for the financial year 2026-27.
