Rana Mashhood led the groundbreaking for Pakistan's first FIFA Arena in Lahore Subzazar, advancing grassroots football and starting a planned nationwide rollout.

Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, performed the groundbreaking ceremony for Pakistan’s first FIFA Arena in Lahore’s Subzazar area, a milestone for grassroots football in the city. The event drew government officials, football administrators and community leaders, signalling the start of a project organisers say will expand access to structured play at the neighbourhood level.

The FIFA Arena initiative was introduced to Pakistan by Syed Mohsen Gilani, President of the Pakistan Football Federation, who said the plan aligns with the Prime Minister’s vision and received early backing from Rana Mashhood. Gilani described the day as historic and indicated the Subzazar facility is the first step in a broader nationwide rollout of FIFA Arena pitches.

Gilani emphasised the momentum building around Pakistani football, citing recent international performances and growing institutional support. He said when leadership shows vision, implementation follows, and that accessible infrastructure like the FIFA Arena will be vital in turning aspirations into opportunities for young players who have long watched world‑class football on television.

Rana Mashhood announced that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is expected to inaugurate the facility once construction is complete and framed the project as part of Pakistan’s wider development trajectory. He noted the potential for emerging talent, saying the next global stars could be nurtured on pitches such as this, reinforcing the importance of grassroots investment.

Local representatives also voiced support. MNA Hafiz Nauman credited government leadership for prioritising youth engagement through sport and offered additional school sites for future FIFA Arena installations. Naveed Ahmed Lodhi welcomed the revival of community football spaces that had largely disappeared, while Jawed Dogar, Additional Inspector General and PFF Congress member, described the development as a proud moment for the local community.

The FIFA Arena is a standardised, FIFA‑endorsed small‑sided pitch concept designed to broaden participation and provide international‑standard playing surfaces at the grassroots level. Its introduction in Subzazar reflects a renewed commitment to local sport infrastructure and sets the stage for more such projects across Pakistan as organisers work to translate support into expanded community access and development pathways for young players.
