Kinnaird College Wins Lahore Intervarsity Title

Kinnaird College clinched the Lahore Intervarsity Cricket title with a nine-wicket victory; match recap and ceremony highlights from Lahore.

In a convincing display at the college grounds, Kinnaird College secured the Lahore Intervarsity League Cricket trophy after defeating the University of Education by nine wickets in the final.

The University of Education elected to bat and were bundled out for a modest 35 for 7 in six overs. Only Tehreem offered resistance with 15 runs while the rest of the batting lineup failed to reach double figures. Amania Abid was the standout bowler for Kinnaird College, claiming three crucial wickets to keep the opposition under pressure.

Chasing a target of 36, Kinnaird College reached the mark comfortably in just two overs with one wicket down. Fatima Shahid played a sensational innings, finishing unbeaten on 28 as she steered the chase to a swift finish and ensured the title returned to Kinnaird.

Lahore College for Women University took the third spot in the tournament, rounding off a competitive event that showcased emerging talent in women’s cricket across Lahore’s universities.

The closing ceremony was attended by Principal Prof. Dr. Iram Anjum, who presented trophies and medals to the winners and outstanding performers. Distinguished guests included Vice Principal Dr. Kalsoom Akhtar, Dr. Aiysha Safdar, Academic Dean Social Sciences and Law, Dr. Helen Khokhar, Dean of Intermediate, and Dr. Ammara Rubab, Head of the Sports Department.

Prof. Dr. Iram Anjum praised the commitment and performances of all teams and urged students to balance athletics with academics. She emphasized that participation in sports builds discipline, confidence and teamwork while promoting healthy competition among youth, a message that underlined Kinnaird College’s continued support for women’s sport in Lahore.
