A two-day roundtable consultation on paediatric TB coordinated by MSF Pakistan in collaboration with the national TB programme and WHO-Pakistan concluded with a shared commitment to develop a roadmap to improve care for children with tuberculosis across Pakistan.
Experts examined persistent barriers to timely diagnosis of paediatric TB, access to child-appropriate treatment and the strengthening of prevention and nutritional support for affected families. Discussions highlighted practical steps to reduce diagnostic delays, expand availability of paediatric-friendly regimens and integrate nutritional assistance into routine TB services.
The consultation identified measures to make paediatric TB services more accessible and effective for children in urban centres and underserved areas alike. MSF, together with WHO, will present the group’s recommendations in a report to the Ministry of Health to inform policy and implementation of child-centred TB care.
