The sixth release from Humnava arrives as a qawwali recorded against the evocative landscape of Hunza and at Hostel Nomads, exploring the tradition of collective surrender and the porous line between devotion and longing. Lost in Love reads as a confession from hearts that dared to carry love and were undone by it, yet would choose it again.
Curated by Xulfi and Sherry Khattak, the track balances deep qawwali expression with intimate contemporary arrangement. The vocal core features Zain Ali and Zohaib Ali of Zain Zohaib alongside Shahid Hussain and Rehan Ali of Damsaaz, with backing contributions by Meherban Aleem, Faizan Ali, Basit Khan and Nawaz Ali Khan Rozdar. Humnava vocalists Ehsan Ali, Ruzzam Ali, Sameer Ali, Abdul Waheed, Muhabat Ali, Sharafat Ali, Raheel Anwar and Mudassar Ali add the layered communal voice that the piece demands.
Musically the arrangement brings together modern and traditional textures: Jbinternational on bass, Jojo on drums, Elijah Solo on electric guitars and Melvin Arthur on acoustic guitars complement rubab players Ali Habib and Abdul Wajid, while Adnan Karim anchors the rhythm on dholak and percussions. The song was written by Zain Zohaib, Imran Hunzai and Xulfi, composed by Zain Zohaib and Xulfi, arranged by Xulfi and Sherry Khattak, and produced and mixed by Xulfi, reflecting Humnava’s collaborative ethos.
The music video, directed by Aamir Mughal with associate directors Ghous Hussain and Shahzaib Qureshi, extends the song’s emotional language into visual form. Second unit cinematography involved Babar Dahr, Fahad Mehmood and Mir Tayyab Khan, with post production handled by Mehroz Raza and grading by Leonardo Mareso. Production design was led by Aqeel ur Rehman, with art direction by Sara Vohra, styling by Wajeeha Badar, wardrobe management by Sabir Amin and hair and grooming by Trio Salon.
