A dignified ceremony at Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House in Islamabad saw China Window unveil a new Pashto song to mark 75 years of Pakistan China friendship. The event brought together political leaders, diplomats, cultural figures and members of the public to celebrate the long-standing ties between the two countries through music and cultural exchange.

Babar Saleem Swati, Speaker of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, attended as chief guest while Chinese Cultural Consul Chen Peng participated as a special guest. Provincial Minister for Energy Nazir Abbasi, former provincial minister Akbar Ayub, assembly members Anwar Khan, Asif Mehsud, Ikramullah Ghazi, Faiza Malik and Sonia Shah were among those present, alongside Secretary Syed Waqar Shah, former inspectors general of police Malik Naveed Khan and Akhtar Hayat Gandapur, diplomats, journalists and assembly protocol and public relations officers.

Administrator of China Window, Amjad Aziz Malik, described the launch as a humble effort to express enduring sentiments through the universal language of music. He explained that the composition is primarily Pashto and, while delivered in the form of romantic poetry, its deeper message reflects the historic and heartfelt Pakistan China friendship that transcends borders and languages.

Chen Peng underscored the depth of bilateral ties and strategic cooperation, calling the relationship a shining example of mutual trust and shared prosperity. He reaffirmed China’s commitment to strengthening the iron-clad brotherhood with Pakistan and expanding collaboration in economy, trade, science, education and culture, and praised the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor as a landmark of practical cooperation.

Speaker Babar Saleem Swati noted that Pakistan China friendship has stood the test of time and highlighted Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s key role in the CPEC vision. Referring to recent parliamentary visits to Kashgar and Urumqi, he pointed to progress on sister-city links between Peshawar and Urumqi and between Abbottabad and Kashgar, stressing the importance of trade, tourism, education and cultural exchange.

The Speaker also commended China Window’s cultural initiatives and paid tribute to poet Professor Dr Abaseen Yousafzai and singers Dr Irfan Khalil and Yamsa Noor for their contributions to the project. The ceremony concluded with presentation of commemorative souvenirs and a cake cutting to celebrate 75 years of Pakistan China friendship, and a renewed commitment to deepen people-to-people contacts and cultural diplomacy between the two nations.
