During the three days of Eid, Rawalpindi Rescue teams responded to 167 road traffic accidents across the district, with a total of 189 people affected. The emergency teams reached all scenes while maintaining their average response time and provided on-site medical assistance and evacuation where needed.
Among those injured, 3 people lost their lives, 84 were seriously injured and 102 sustained minor injuries. The majority of the victims were vehicle occupants and motorcycle riders, with 157 men and 32 women among those involved. Most casualties fell in the 11 to 40 years age bracket.
Investigations and field reports attribute many collisions to speeding, driver negligence during driving, tire burst and other causes. Rawalpindi Rescue emphasised the need for strict compliance with traffic laws as part of ongoing efforts to reduce road traffic incidents and protect commuters during peak travel periods.
In the same period, rescue and firefighting units attended 46 fire incidents across the district. Teams reported no injuries in these incidents and acted swiftly to contain flames. Professional firefighting operations and the coordination of district rescue management helped prevent estimated losses of roughly 19 million in property and assets.
Authorities identified short circuits, human negligence and other causes behind many of the fires, and responders also dealt with 10 forest fire incidents during the Eid days. Fire safety enforcement, training and public awareness programmes remain active as part of the broader strategy to limit such incidents.
Rawalpindi Rescue continues to work on preventive measures and urges the public to follow traffic regulations and fire safety rules to reduce risks. Muhammad Usman Gujar, Media Coordinator Rescue Rawalpindi, confirmed the figures and praised the timely actions of rescue and firefighting teams during the Eid period.
