Dr Shaista Khan Jadun appointed Parliamentary Secretary to National Food Security and Research Ministry to strengthen Pakistan's food security efforts.

Islamabad officials confirmed that Dr Shaista Khan Jadun has been appointed Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of National Food Security and Research through a notification issued by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs. The executive order signed by Assistant Secretary Ashraf Ali Samo makes the appointment effective immediately and will remain in place until further legislative direction.

As Parliamentary Secretary, Shaista Khan Jadun will serve as a crucial link between the federal administration and Parliament, carrying responsibilities that include parliamentary oversight, responding to legislation-related questions, and defending ministry policies on the National Assembly floor. The role also entails direct support to the federal ministry in implementing major projects focused on food security, agriculture and livestock.

The assignment of this portfolio comes at a sensitive moment when Pakistan is actively working to modernize agricultural supply chains, adjust crop management to climate change impacts, and broaden the national food security framework. Relevant divisions including the Cabinet Division and the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs have initiated administrative steps to ensure the immediate operationalisation of the appointment.

Political analysts say entrusting this division to an experienced and educated parliamentary figure is a deliberate move to provide focused leadership for one of Pakistan’s most vital sectors. The appointment of Shaista Khan Jadun is being viewed as part of a broader effort to align parliamentary oversight with on-the-ground implementation of food security measures.
