ISLAMABAD, July 29: The National Curriculum Council Wing of the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, in collaboration with UNFPA Pakistan and ACT International, has launched a pilot of the Digital Life Skills-Based Education Learning Management System for Class IV.
The project was formally inaugurated at Islamabad College for Boys, G-6/3, where Federal Education and Professional Training Secretary Nadeem Mahbub was the chief guest.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Mahbub said the purpose of quality education was to equip children not only with curriculum-based learning but also with practical skills such as critical thinking, effective communication, problem-solving and sound decision-making.
The three-month pilot will initially be implemented in 20 public and private schools in Islamabad. These include eight schools from the federal education system and 12 schools associated with PEIRA and JICA.
During the pilot, the usefulness and usage of the digital platform, as well as its impact on students’ learning performance, will be assessed.
UNFPA Pakistan Deputy Country Representative Dr Gulnara Kadyrkulova said digital life skills education would play an important role in helping children become healthy, responsible and empowered citizens.
On the basis of the pilot’s results, the programme will be expanded in phases to other classes, schools and different parts of the country.
