ISLAMABAD: President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), Atif Ikram Sheikh, visited the Embassy of Qatar in Islamabad and met Qatari Ambassador Ali Mubarak Ali Essa.
During the meeting, the two sides held detailed discussions on promoting trade, economic and investment relations between Pakistan and Qatar.
Atif Ikram Sheikh appreciated the positive role of the leadership of Pakistan and Qatar in the regional situation and for peace in the region. He also praised the historic ties between the two brotherly countries.
He said Pakistan and Qatar’s political, diplomatic, social and economic relations were a source of pride for both countries. He added that there were vast opportunities to take economic cooperation between Pakistan and Qatar to new heights.
The FPCCI president invited Qatari investors to explore investment opportunities in Pakistan’s energy, infrastructure, agriculture, information technology, tourism and other sectors.
He said the FPCCI would play every possible role in further strengthening private sector linkages between Pakistan and Qatar.
Qatari Ambassador Ali Mubarak Ali Essa appreciated Atif Ikram Sheikh’s efforts for the promotion of bilateral relations between Pakistan and Qatar. The ambassador also expressed the desire to further enhance cooperation between the business communities of the two countries.
Atif Ikram Sheikh expressed heartfelt condolences and grief over the demise of former Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. He also offered condolences to the Qatari ambassador over the death of his father and prayed for the departed souls.
The FPCCI president said the former Emir of Qatar had played a historic role in strengthening brotherly relations between Pakistan and Qatar.
FPCCI Vice President Tariq Jadoon and Chairman Capital Office Karim Aziz Malik were also present in the meeting.
Both sides expressed their resolve to further expand trade, investment and business cooperation between Pakistan and Qatar.
