ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja has welcomed the historic Makkah Joint Defence Agreement signed between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye in the holy city of Makkah, terming it a highly significant step towards unity within the Muslim Ummah and lasting peace in the region.
In a statement issued on August 09, 2026, the federal minister said the agreement had opened new avenues for peace, unity and mutual cooperation among the Muslim Ummah. She said future generations would remember the agreement as a new and bright chapter of brotherhood, mutual trust and shared peace.
Shaza Fatima paid tribute to the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, saying their timely and wise decisions had proved that strong and sincere leadership brings nations closer and opens the path to peace.
She also praised the tireless efforts of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, extending gratitude to them on behalf of the nation.
The minister said that through the combined efforts of the military and political leadership, Pakistan had earned a new stature and standing as a champion of peace on the global stage.
According to Shaza Fatima, under the agreement, an attack on any one of the three brotherly countries will be considered an attack on all of them. She said Pakistan, Turkiye and Saudi Arabia would employ all available resources to ensure one another’s defence and security.
Thanking the leadership of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye, the federal minister said the historic agreement had instilled a renewed sense of resolve, confidence and hope across the Muslim Ummah.
