Pakistan, September 18, 2026: Coke Studio Nu.WAV has continued its journey with Rangeen, a new song featuring Hasan Raheem and Izzchugtai, produced by Umair.
The song brings together themes of longing, love and youthful romance, presenting them in a brighter musical setting. According to details shared about the release, Rangeen began with a beat passed from Umair to Hasan Raheem and later found its melody during a drive home. Umair retained the spontaneity of the composition, bringing together his hip-hop instincts with the song’s more classical character.
In the track, Hasan Raheem reaches towards affection, while Izzchugtai’s entry adds a different energy and dimension to the song.
The music video has been directed by Arham Ikram. It draws on the familiar language of filmi romance and presents it in a playful manner. Set against a pastel version of Lahore, the video shows Hasan on a rooftop during Basant, where a glimpse of a girl across the way leads him into an imagined romance.
Kites fill the sky, stones are tossed towards balconies, and the protagonist begins imagining a future with someone he has barely met. The video then follows the logic of a daydream.
Hashim Ali’s production design reimagines Lahore as a city shaped by memory, with pastel façades, patterned tiles and fabric, old computers, CDs, cassettes and film posters inspired by an early-2000s childhood. As Hasan’s imagined romance gathers pace, the world around him becomes more colourful, heightened and deliberately unreal.
Speaking about the release, Kamal Khan, Executive Producer, Coke Studio Nu.WAV, said: “Rangeen was kind of easy in the best way. Hasan and Umair already had it. The song, the world, everything. They knew Izzchugtai would work. Arham knows Hasan well enough to just get it. He brought this cool filmy, coming-of-age feel to whole video. He just belongs in that. And Hashim, Aamir and Faraz made the whole thing look incredible.”
The imagined courtship in the video eventually moves towards what appears to be its conclusion before the arrangement opens into shehnai, played by Muhammad Salim, for a wedding sequence that brings the fantasy back to reality. However, the song does not turn heartbreak into tragedy, leaving open the possibility of another rooftop, another Basant and another romance under a sky filled with kites.
Rangeen brings together three artists working across Pakistan’s contemporary pop, R&B and hip-hop landscape.
Hasan Raheem is among the prominent voices in contemporary Pakistani indie-pop and R&B, known for releases including Aisay Kaisay and Joona. He was Spotify RADAR Pakistan’s inaugural artist and also appeared in Coke Studio Season 14’s Peechay Hutt alongside Talal Qureshi and Justin Bibis.
Izzchugtai represents a newer generation of multidisciplinary Pakistani artists working between production and performance. Emerging from Lahore’s contemporary music landscape, his work includes collaborations and solo releases such as Ghuroor, LOVE BOMB, AWAY FROM ME, Junoon and Nadiyan Paar.
Umair, a Karachi-born producer and songwriter, has built a catalogue from beats made in his bedroom as a teenager to more than 150 releases and collaborations across Pakistan and the wider South Asian music scene. His earlier work with Hasan Raheem includes Radha, OBVIOUS and MAKE YOU MINE. He has also worked with artists including Young Stunners, Asim Azhar and Talwiinder.
With Kamal Khan as executive producer, Rangeen is produced, composed and mixed by Umair. The song has been co-arranged by Umair and Hasan Raheem. Hasan also leads the vocal arrangement, vocal composition and lyrics, while mastering has been done by Sean Tallman.
The music video is directed and edited by Arham Ikram, with Aamir Mughal as Director of Photography and Hashim Ali handling production design and art direction. The project is produced by Gali Films, with Iman Khan as producer.
