ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Information Commission has reaffirmed its commitment to implementing citizens’ constitutional right to access information under Article 19-A of the Constitution of Pakistan.
In a message issued on the International Day for Universal Access to Information, the Chief Information Commissioner extended greetings to the citizens of Pakistan and said the Commission remained fully committed to the legislation enacted by Parliament in accordance with Article 19-A of the Constitution.
The message said the Right of Access to Information Act, 2017, enacted by the Government of Pakistan, was being implemented in line with the principles contained in its preamble and provisions.
The Chief Information Commissioner said implementation of the law was aimed at ensuring the empowerment of citizens through their right to access information.
The Commission reiterated its commitment to carrying out its responsibilities under the legal framework established to give effect to citizens’ constitutional right to information.
