PESHAWAR: Khyber Medical University has opened admissions for MBBS and BDS programmes in public sector medical and dental colleges of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for the 2026-27 academic session.
According to the admission notice issued by the university, online applications became available on September 29, while the last date for submission has been fixed as October 21, 2026.
The university has been authorised by the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to conduct admissions to public sector medical and dental colleges in the province through the Medical and Dental College Admission Test. The admission process applies from the 2024-25 academic session onwards.
Applications have been invited from candidates seeking admission to public sector medical and dental colleges in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Candidates seeking admission to the KMU Institute of Medical Sciences, Kohat, and the KMU Institute of Dental Sciences, Kohat, are required to submit separate applications.
The medical colleges included in the admission process are Ayub Medical College Abbottabad, Bacha Khan Medical College Mardan, Bannu Medical College Bannu, Gajju Khan Medical College Swabi, Gomal Medical College Dera Ismail Khan, Khyber Medical College Peshawar, Khyber Girls Medical College Peshawar, Nowshera Medical College Nowshera and Saidu Medical College Swat.
The dental colleges included in the process are Bacha Khan Dental College Mardan, Khyber College of Dentistry Peshawar, Dental College Ayub Medical College Abbottabad and Saidu College of Dentistry Swat.
The notice also lists reciprocal seats in medical colleges in Punjab and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. These include Azad Jammu and Kashmir Medical College Muzaffarabad, Nishtar Medical College Multan, Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Medical College Mirpur and Poonch Medical College Rawalakot.
Under the eligibility rules, a candidate must have obtained at least 60 per cent marks in Higher Secondary School Certificate, FSc or an equivalent qualification from a recognised board in Pakistan or abroad.
Candidates must also have passed the Medical and Dental College Admission Test held in 2024, 2025 or 2026. The required MDCAT score is at least 55 per cent for MBBS admission and 50 per cent for BDS admission. The candidate must also have a domicile of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa or the merged districts.
The merit calculation will give 10 per cent weight to Secondary School Certificate marks, 40 per cent to Intermediate or Higher Secondary School Certificate marks and 50 per cent to MDCAT marks.
The university has directed candidates to apply online through the KMU admissions website and complete the process according to the instructions shown on the website. The notice states that hard copies of application forms are no longer required.
Applicants have been advised to keep their original fee slip as it may be required as proof during the admission process. The notice also says that incomplete or defective applications will not be considered.
Candidates have been asked to submit documents and information carefully. The university has warned that forged certificates or fake documents can lead to cancellation of admission. Candidates found guilty of submitting false information may also face cancellation of admission.
The notice states that candidates placed on the merit list will have to deposit their admission fee within three working days after receiving an admission offer letter. Failure to deposit the fee within the given period can result in the seat being offered to the next eligible candidate.
As per the admission schedule, the medical board for specially abled candidates will be held on October 23, followed by the appeal medical board on October 26.
The provisional merit list will be displayed on October 30, while online objections against the provisional merit list can be submitted from November 1. A meeting of the relevant committee to consider objections and claims is scheduled for November 4 and 5.
The final merit list will be displayed on November 12. Placement in MBBS and BDS colleges will take place from November 16 to November 21, followed by placement for relevant categories at KIMS and KIDS on November 23.
The university has also scheduled further rounds for vacant seats. The second round will be held from December 1 to December 4, while the third round will be held from December 15 to December 17.
The admission notice says all information about the admission process, including eligibility, merit calculation and application procedure, is available on the official KMU admissions website.
