PPP leader Muhammad Aamir Siddiqui said Kashmiris observe October 24 as the Foundation Day of the Government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Peoples Party leader and President of Taraqqi Pasand Falahai Tanzeem, Muhammad Aamir Siddiqui, has said that freedom is a great blessing and proud nations always hold their liberty supreme while paying tribute to the sacrifices of their benefactors.

Talking to workers, he said the people of Kashmir observe October 24 as the Foundation Day of the Government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. He said the 79th Foundation Day of the Government of Jammu and Kashmir was being marked with the pledge that the freedom struggle would remain foremost until the complete liberation of occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Aamir Siddiqui said India, seven years ago on August 5, revoked Articles 370 and 35-A of its constitution, openly violating United Nations resolutions and ending the special status of the internationally recognised disputed state of Kashmir.

He said the military siege in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir had entered its 2,637th day. He added that India had promised the Kashmiris at the United Nations the right to self-determination through a free and fair plebiscite so that they could decide their future themselves.

He said the Government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir was founded on October 24, 1947, when the brave sons of Azad Jammu and Kashmir liberated it from the clutches of India-backed Dogra rulers.

Aamir Siddiqui said Pakistan would always continue its political, social and diplomatic support for the Kashmiri people. He said the era of oppression and coercion would soon end and the Kashmiri people would decide their own future.

He urged the United Nations and the international community to raise a strong voice to stop the ongoing oppression and brutality against the Kashmiri people and to help them secure their right to plebiscite, so that the sun of coercion could set.
