The Chandani Chowk, which is located in the center of the garrison city, is where the car belonging to Naveed Satti was retrieved. It’s interesting to note that both cars were taken within the same hour of each other. The CCTV footage that was handed to the authorities by the journalists reveals that the car thieves were able to make off with the victims’ vehicles in a matter of minutes and with no difficulty at all. Even though they went through several checkpoints staffed by law enforcement officers, no one stopped them or questioned what they were doing.

Theft of a motor vehicle is considered a serious offense under Pakistani law, with the severity of the punishment varying according to the type and value of the motor vehicle that was taken. Theft of a car or other motor vehicle is punishable by a fine, imprisonment for up to seven years, or both according to section 381-A of the Pakistan Penal Code. Additionally, the theft of a car or other motor vehicle is punishable by both of these penalties. Despite this, a significant number of cases of auto theft continue to be unsolved or go unreported for a variety of reasons, including a lack of evidence, political influence, corruption, or negligence.

Theft from automobiles not only results in a monetary loss for the victims, but it also poses a risk to their physical safety and violates their sense of dignity. It also has an effect on the public’s trust in law enforcement authorities and their capacity to uphold law and order in the community. Therefore, it is vital that the authorities in Pakistan take effective efforts to prevent and combat car theft, such as upgrading surveillance systems, enhancing cooperation among different agencies, strengthening legal frameworks, and raising public awareness.
