Chairman of the Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP), Dr. Kabir Sidhu, held a meeting with Mr. Shahid Mehmood Khokhar, Chairman of the Implementation Tribunal for Newspaper Employees (ITNE), to discuss potential institutional cooperation and ways to enhance competitiveness within the media industry.
During the discussion, both leaders explored opportunities for institutional collaboration aimed at creating a more competitive and fair environment within the media sector. Emphasis was placed on identifying avenues through which CCP and ITNE could jointly address challenges related to market dynamics and regulatory frameworks in the media industry.
Mr. Khokhar commended CCP’s proactive stance in enforcing competition laws and highlighted the significant contributions of the commission through recent legal reforms. He particularly acknowledged the commission’s notable initiatives, including the establishment of the Centre of Excellence and effective inter-agency coordination. These efforts, Mr. Khokhar noted, have substantially advanced the cause of fair competition throughout various sectors, including media.
The productive exchange concluded with both chairmen agreeing to continue collaborative engagements, further reinforcing institutional alignment aimed at fostering healthy competition and transparency in the media industry.
