Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur met Afghan Ambassador Sardar Ahmad Shakeeb and offered cooperation from his government in establishing a cancer hospital in Afghanistan, pledging further assistance in agriculture and reaffirming commitment to strengthening bilateral relations.
During the high-level meeting held in Islamabad, both leaders discussed an extensive range of issues, including bilateral relations, mutual cooperation, and regional stability. They expressed a shared commitment to enhancing practical engagement and agreed upon actions aimed at improving the lives of people on both sides of the border.
Advisor to Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Information, Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif, was also present at the meeting. He was assigned responsibility for maintaining effective communication between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa authorities and their Afghan counterparts, ensuring successful implementation of cooperative projects and smoother interactions between the two sides.
Chief Minister Gandapur highlighted his government’s readiness to support humanitarian and development initiatives in Afghanistan. In particular, he announced Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s willingness to extend active support towards the establishment of a cancer hospital in Afghanistan, a step expected to significantly advance healthcare services for Afghan citizens. He also assured substantial cooperation and expertise-sharing in Afghanistan’s agricultural sector.
During the exchange, both leaders recognized the long shared border and emphasized the importance of mutual histories, culture, language, ethnic, tribal, and religious linkages that bring the two nations closer. They reaffirmed their determination to foster stronger relations through peace, mutual respect and unity, and emphasized a joint effort against external forces aiming to destabilize regional harmony. They reiterated the vital importance of safeguarding the region for the next generations, maintaining peace and stability as a crucial goal.
Ambassador Sardar Ahmad Shakeeb expressed sincere gratitude toward the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for its dedicated care and attention towards Afghan refugees residing within the region. He reiterated Afghanistan’s firm resolve to further deepen cooperation and mutual understanding between the two brotherly nations.
At the conclusion of discussions, Chief Minister Gandapur announced plans to send a special delegation from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Afghanistan. This delegation aims to further build trust and strengthen harmony between the peoples of Pakistan and Afghanistan, serving as a bridge connecting the two neighboring countries.
