Kazakhstan and COMSATS Explore New Avenues for Science and Technology Collaboration
The Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Pakistan, Mr. Y. Kistafin, met with Dr. Mohammad Nafees Zakaria, Executive Director of the Commission on Science and Technology for Sustainable Development in the South (COMSATS), for talks aimed at deepening scientific and technological cooperation between Kazakhstan and the organization. Both sides expressed a strong commitment to expanding their partnership and fostering greater collaboration among member states.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on potential areas of joint work, with particular emphasis on educational initiatives and research opportunities. Dr. Zakaria offered COMSATS’ support in organizing a variety of training programs and educational seminars across different specializations. He also highlighted the availability of advanced laboratory facilities, including in the field of nanotechnology, and expressed readiness to showcase recently developed IT solutions to Kazakhstani partners.
Recognizing Kazakhstan’s substantial scientific achievements, Dr. Zakaria proposed the idea of hosting a COMSATS event in Kazakhstan as a means of further strengthening ties with the organization. Ambassador Kistafin welcomed the suggested initiatives and commended the efforts undertaken by Dr. Zakaria to revitalize COMSATS’ activities. He underscored the vital importance of bolstering scientific and technological collaboration, especially through enhanced engagement among research institutions and scientists across member countries.
At the conclusion of the discussions, both parties agreed to intensify cooperation between the Embassy of Kazakhstan and COMSATS, paving the way for mutually beneficial projects and deeper scientific linkages across the South.
