A joint team of experts from the World Health Organization (WHO) and Pakistan’s Ministry of Health has visited Punjab to conduct a comprehensive epidemiological review of tuberculosis (TB), aiming to evaluate and enhance the country’s efforts to eliminate the disease.

During their visit, the delegation worked closely with local health authorities to analyze existing TB control measures, identify gaps, and recommend strategies for a more effective response. The review is part of broader national initiatives focused on reducing the burden of tuberculosis, which remains a significant public health challenge in Pakistan.

The collaborative undertaking included on-site assessments, consultations with healthcare professionals, and detailed data analysis to ensure that interventions are aligned with global best practices. By leveraging technical expertise from WHO and insights from Pakistan’s health officials, the initiative is expected to lead to strengthened TB surveillance, improved case management, and expanded prevention programs.

Health experts emphasized the importance of sustained partnerships and investment in TB control to protect vulnerable populations and move closer to the goal of ending tuberculosis across the country.
