**Pakistan Finalizes Nationwide Strategy for Monsoon Tree Plantation Campaign**

Pakistan’s Ministry of Climate Change and Environmental Coordination has finalized an integrated strategy for the nationwide Monsoon Tree Plantation Campaign. Chaired by Federal Minister Dr. Musadik Malik, the campaign will prioritize inter-provincial coordination, public involvement, and the use of native, climate-resilient tree species to promote ecological sustainability during the August to October monsoon period.

A high-level meeting brought together key officials, including Ms. Aisha Humera Moriani, Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani, Secretary of Inter-Provincial Coordination, National Assembly Members Ms. Zahra Fatemi and Ms. Saba Sadiq, and representatives from relevant departments. The participants discussed a unified approach to maximise planting activity across Islamabad and the provinces, targeting the optimal conditions provided by the monsoon season.

Central to the campaign is a strong emphasis on inclusivity and public engagement. The strategy includes mobilizing students, educational institutions, government bodies, and local communities to participate in the planting drive. Dr. Malik specifically advocated for free distribution of saplings, particularly in underserved areas, to encourage mass participation and widespread greening.

Environmental sustainability featured prominently in the deliberations, with consensus on planting native and climate-resilient species to safeguard local ecosystems and prevent ecological imbalances. The campaign aims to rehabilitate degraded landscapes and contribute to climate adaptation and biodiversity conservation efforts across the country.

Dr. Malik underscored the necessity of robust follow-up and monitoring to ensure that planting efforts yield lasting results. He called for inter-provincial collaboration, continuous oversight, and a far-reaching public awareness campaign to support long-term success. Stressing that tree plantation is only the first step, he highlighted the crucial importance of ensuring tree survival and growth to maximize environmental impact.

The Monsoon Tree Plantation Campaign forms a key part of the government’s broader strategy to combat climate change, improve air quality, and enhance both urban and rural green spaces. Through this initiative, Pakistani citizens are being called upon to join in building a more sustainable and climate-resilient future for the nation.
