**Punjab Unveils Ambitious Plan for 88 New Sports Development Projects**
The Punjab government is set to launch 88 new sports development projects across the province as part of a major initiative to modernize sports infrastructure and promote athletic activities. This plan, overseen by Director General Sports Punjab Khizra Afzal Chaudhry, underscores Punjab’s commitment to delivering state-of-the-art facilities to both urban and rural communities.
At a recent high-level meeting chaired by DG Khizra Afzal Chaudhry, officials reviewed progress on the province’s various sports schemes and finalized significant decisions regarding the preparation of PC-1 documents for upcoming projects. Out of 88 proposed sports schemes, 38 project documents have already been completed, with active work underway in all regions of Punjab.
Emphasizing the importance of these initiatives, Khizra Afzal stated that the development drive reflects the government’s long-term strategy to foster youth engagement and achieve sporting excellence across the province. The agenda focuses on improving sports infrastructure to ensure young athletes have access to modern facilities and opportunities for growth.
Director Admin Dr. Muhammad Kaleem, Deputy Director Tariq Khanzada, and divisional sports officers participated in the meeting, with additional input from district and divisional teams online. All field formations and sports officers were instructed to take full ownership of their respective projects and ensure continuous oversight from the initial planning (PC-1 phase) through to completion and handover.
To ensure accountability and timely delivery, officials have been directed to conduct regular site visits and establish a comprehensive reporting system for close monitoring of project progress. DG Khizra Afzal stressed that there would be no compromise on quality, and that all projects must adhere to strict timelines, enabling the public to access and benefit from modern sports facilities as soon as possible.
