**Pakistan Underscores Commitment to Digital Inclusion and Gender Equity at World AI Conference 2025**
At the World AI Conference 2025, Pakistan’s Federal Minister for IT & Telecom, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, reaffirmed the country’s dedication to fostering an inclusive digital transformation, prioritizing gender equity and the responsible use of artificial intelligence for societal benefit.
Highlighting Pakistan’s recent achievements in the digital sector, the minister announced that the nation has surpassed 200 million mobile subscribers—a significant milestone reflecting rapid technological adoption. She also emphasized the passage of the Digital Nation Act and the rollout of the Digital FDI Initiative, both of which are designed to strengthen Pakistan’s digital infrastructure and attract further investment in the technology sector.
Pakistan’s progress in bridging the digital divide was further recognized with the achievement of the highest global reduction in the mobile internet gender gap, as reported in the latest GSMA 2025 findings. This success is complemented by a notable increase in women’s participation in technology: 35% of startups within the National Incubation Centers (NICs) are now women-led, upholding the government’s commitment to empowering female entrepreneurs.
Minister Khawaja reiterated the pivotal role of women in shaping Pakistan’s digital future, stating that they are at the forefront of ethical AI development, innovation, and inclusive growth. She encouraged global collaboration to create an AI-driven future where women lead and inclusion is at the heart of progress.
