IBCC Promotes Inter-Boards Hockey Culture

The Inter Boards Coordination Commission (IBCC), through its Inter-Board Sports Committee (IBSC), staged the All Pakistan Inter-Boards Hockey Championship 2025–26 at the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Lahore from April 21 to 23, 2026. The Inter-Boards Hockey event brought together student-athletes from 12 educational boards across Pakistan including Lahore, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Rawalpindi, Bahawalpur, Multan, Punjab Board of Technical Education, Bannu, Mardan and Peshawar, underscoring national participation and unity through sport.

In a tightly contested competition BISE Lahore emerged as champions, Gujranwala finished second while Peshawar secured third place, showcasing rising talent and competitive spirit among school and college teams in the Inter-Boards Hockey circuit.

The closing ceremony was attended by Executive Director IBCC Dr Ghulam Ali Mallah as chief guest alongside Olympian Shahbaz Senior and noted sports figures Mr Pervez Sandela, Mr Khawaja Junaid, Mr Faisal Farid, Mr Rizwan Nazir and Mr Masood ul Rehman who commended the players and organizers.

Dr Mallah reiterated that IBCC places strong emphasis on co-curricular development alongside academics and that through IBSC the commission organises more than 30 inter-board sports events annually for both boys and girls, offering equal opportunities and promoting healthy competition. He stressed that promotion of hockey is a prime priority, reflecting his active role with the Pakistan Hockey Federation, and outlined the goal to revive the national game and reconnect youth with Pakistan’s sporting legacy.

Dr Mallah praised BISE Lahore for exemplary arrangements and professional conduct while acknowledging Organising Secretary Dr Badar Mohy ud Din for effective coordination that ensured smooth conduct of the championship. He emphasized IBCC’s vision to institutionalize a strong sports culture in schools and colleges to foster discipline, teamwork, leadership and physical well-being.

The event closed with a renewed commitment by IBCC to further integrate sports within the education system, encouraging students nationwide to take part in Inter-Boards Hockey and other co-curricular activities that contribute to a healthier and more vibrant society.
