Raising Awareness on Workplace Harassment Protection in Punjab

The Punjab Family Planning Program, in collaboration with the Directorate General Population Welfare and the Women Development Department Punjab, recently organized an orientation session focused on the Protection Against Harassment of Women at the Workplace Act, 2010. The initiative sought to educate staff across the province on legal rights and mechanisms for ensuring workplace safety, fostering a safer and more inclusive environment for women.

The interactive session featured a comprehensive presentation by Imran Qureshi, Senior Legal Expert, who explained the legal frameworks available to protect women from workplace harassment. He also addressed a range of questions submitted by participants, seeking to clarify the implementation and significance of the legislation.

The event brought together Gender Focal Persons and field officers from across Punjab, who joined the discussion virtually. Key officials from the Directorate General Population Welfare and the Directorate of Training, Research & Production, PPIF Punjab, participated in person.

During the session, Sania Mirza, Gender Specialist, delivered an address on integrating gender-sensitive approaches within the Punjab Family Planning Program. Environmental Safeguard Specialist Tashfeen Abbas presented on the World Bank’s Environmental and Social Safeguards, emphasizing the intersection of workplace safety and broader welfare standards.

The session was hosted by Salman ur Rasheed and concluded with a certificate distribution ceremony. In recognition of his informative presentation, Imran Qureshi was presented with a token of appreciation by Khalid Parvez, Director General Health & Population. Organizers expressed special thanks to the Women Development Department Punjab for their support in making the event possible.
