Haroon Akhtar Khan, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production, has condemned India’s actions in Jammu and Kashmir, marking August 5 as a symbol of grave human rights violations against the Kashmiri people. In a statement issued for “Youm-e-Istehsal” or the Day of Exploitation, Khan reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering stance on the Kashmir dispute.
He emphasized that India’s unilateral revocation of Articles 370 and 35A on August 5, 2019, violated United Nations resolutions and international law. Haroon Akhtar Khan described Kashmir as Pakistan’s “jugular vein” and stressed that Pakistan will never accept India’s illegal occupation.
Khan strongly denounced the subsequent military lockdown, widespread human rights violations, and the complete media blackout imposed in the region following India’s actions. He stated that August 5 stands as a stark reminder of the assault on the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination.
Renewing Pakistan’s political, diplomatic, and moral support for the Kashmiri people, Khan pledged that this support would continue until the issue is resolved in accordance with the wishes of the Kashmiri population.
He called on the international community to take notice of the ongoing atrocities in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir and to play its part in ensuring justice. Concluding his message, Haroon Akhtar Khan said that August 5 is a day to honor the countless sacrifices of the Kashmiri people and to reaffirm solidarity with their legitimate struggle.
