Pakistan Boosts Local Medical Manufacturing and Innovation

Pakistan’s Federal Health Minister, Syed Mustafa Kamal, has initiated talks with the Chairman of Shendon Group to promote local manufacturing of medical devices and pharmaceutical products, aiming to boost domestic production and attract investment in the healthcare sector.

The meeting, also attended by Federal Health Secretary Syed Waqar ul Hassan, focused on strategies to enhance the country’s capacity for producing medical technologies. Both parties discussed ways to increase local production of medical equipment and medicines, emphasizing the importance of advanced technology transfer and foreign direct investment in this vital sector.

Minister Mustafa Kamal highlighted the government’s strong commitment to encouraging investment in the medical equipment and pharmaceutical industries. He reaffirmed that the Pakistani government is ready to provide all necessary facilities and support to companies interested in investing in local healthcare manufacturing.

He also underscored the Ministry of National Health Services’ ongoing efforts to ensure the supply of high-quality medical equipment and medicines within Pakistan. The Minister pointed out that expanding local production will help reduce the nation’s dependence on imports, while making healthcare more accessible and affordable for the general population through innovation and self-sufficiency.
