The Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) organized a cycling competition in Islamabad’s Blue Area to encourage healthy sport, promote environmental sustainability, and support the vision of a cleaner, greener capital. The event drew a large and diverse crowd, including professional athletes, amateur cyclists, and residents of all ages, reflecting the city’s growing interest in cycling for both recreation and environmentally friendly transportation.
Addressing the participants, Chairman CDA and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa highlighted the crucial role of cycling in the city’s development. He stressed that cycling offers significant health benefits for individuals and communities while also tackling broader challenges such as traffic congestion and pollution by encouraging non-motorized transport options.
Muhammad Ali Randhawa described cycling as a lifestyle choice that supports physical fitness, environmental preservation, and community engagement. He stated that by promoting cycling, the authorities are investing in both the well-being of citizens and the long-term sustainability of Islamabad.
The Chairman also shared ongoing CDA initiatives focused on expanding dedicated cycling tracks, enhancing road safety for cyclists, and integrating cycling-friendly infrastructure into the city’s planning. He reaffirmed the commitment to making Islamabad a model city for sustainable urban mobility.
The competition concluded with an award ceremony, where winners and participants received prizes and certificates in recognition of their achievements. Muhammad Ali Randhawa praised the efforts of the CDA, volunteers, and cycling clubs for helping make the event a success. Participants in turn expressed appreciation for his vision and leadership, noting that the event forms part of a series of activities marking significant national occasions and promoting healthy lifestyles across the capital.
