Communities in Balochistan, severely impacted by the devastating floods of 2022, are making significant progress in rebuilding their lives. Recovery efforts have been bolstered by the collaborative work of the Government of Balochistan, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Pakistan, and various international development partners.
A major part of this support comes from the Support to Flood-Affected Areas project, funded by the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA). So far, more than 25,000 people in the Kacchi and Jaffarabad districts—almost half of whom are women—have received assistance. Beneficiaries have been equipped with agricultural inputs, livelihood kits, training, and mentoring, helping families restore their sources of income and food security.
To further enhance recovery efforts, representatives from Islamic Relief Pakistan, the China International Center for Economic and Technical Exchanges (CICETE), and UNDP China convened for a Lessons Learned Workshop this week. Participants highlighted the project’s successes and shared strategies for building more resilient communities, aiming to create even stronger recovery pathways for those affected by the floods.
