Ethiopia Embassy Leads Plantation Drive in Lahore

Ethiopia’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula, has launched a plantation drive in Lahore as part of Ethiopia’s “Plant Fraternity” initiative, which seeks to promote environmental cooperation and friendship between Ethiopia and Pakistan. The event was organized by the Parks and Horticulture Authority Lahore, in partnership with the Ethiopian Embassy in Islamabad and the Government of Punjab.

The ceremony attracted the participation of Punjab’s Minister for Housing, Urban Development, and Public Health Engineering, Bilal Yasin, who attended as chief guest. A high-level Ethiopian delegation, Pakistani government officials, climate experts, youth, civil society representatives, and media were also present, highlighting the collaborative spirit of the initiative.

Ambassador Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula emphasized the importance of shared environmental stewardship as a foundation for deeper bilateral ties. He underscored that the “Plant Fraternity” campaign is part of Ethiopia’s wider effort to address climate challenges while fostering people-to-people connections with friendly nations like Pakistan.

As a gesture of appreciation, the Ambassador presented the Green Legacy Award to Minister Bilal Yasin, recognizing his significant contributions to strengthening ties between Ethiopia and Pakistan and advancing sustainability efforts. The plantation drive reflects the shared commitment of both countries to environmental protection and international cooperation.
