Pakistan’s Consul General Zaman Mehdi presented Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson with a made in-Pakistan football in Chicago, as the FIFA World Cup unfolds in the United States.
Speaking at an event organised by the Sonia Shah Organization, the Consul General said Pakistan made footballs reflect the skill, craftsmanship and enterprise for which Pakistan is recognised around the world. He added that the football also symbolised the power of sport to bring people and communities together.
He also noted the shared aspirations connecting Chicagoland and the wider Midwest region with communities across Pakistan, including parents’ hopes for wider opportunities for their children, the importance of education, dignity of work, inclusion and service, and the role of Pakistani Americans as a living bridge between the two countries.
The Consul General thanked Mayor Brandon Johnson for his warm engagement and for celebrating the enduring friendship between Pakistan and the United States.
