The Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) has launched the third edition of its Young Graduates Exhibition, titled “Shared Distances.” The exhibition was inaugurated by Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture, Aurangzeb Khan Khichi, with the Ambassador of Morocco in attendance. The event highlights the creative talents of over 40 emerging artists from leading educational institutions in Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
Curated by Noor Fatima, the exhibition brings together graduates from the National College of Arts, Fatima Jinnah Women University, Rawalpindi Women University, and COMSATS University. These artists present a wide array of media, including painting, printmaking, sculpture, miniature art, and installation pieces.
“Shared Distances” delves into contemporary themes such as presence and absence, intimacy and detachment, and the ever-shifting nature of memory. Through their work, the artists explore complex emotions like resilience, longing, transformation, and the collective human experience, reflecting on how human connections are evolving in today’s world.
Among the featured artists are Amna Wajahat, Areeba Naeem, Fatima Khan, Hazafa Asim, Mishal Mahsud, Nida Zainab, Saleha Naseem, Samreen Rehman, Tayyaba Qureshi, Zakia Irfan Khan, and Zainab Akram, who are joined by several other notable young creatives.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Aurangzeb Khan Khichi praised the PNCA for its commitment to nurturing young talent and offering them a national platform to display their art. He emphasized the critical importance of supporting emerging artists, noting that their creative contributions are vital to preserving and advancing Pakistan’s cultural heritage.
The exhibition is currently open to the public at PNCA Galleries 5 and 6 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM daily, except Saturdays. Art enthusiasts are encouraged to visit and experience a showcase of the nation’s promising new talent.
