Employees of the Pakistan Sports Board have launched nationwide protests, demanding the approval of long-pending promotions and the payment of a sports allowance. Workers across the main Islamabad headquarters and regional offices in Lahore, Peshawar, Karachi, and Quetta expressed dissatisfaction by wearing black armbands, accusing officials of ignoring their concerns.

Leadership from the All Pakistan Sports Board Employees Union, including Secretary General Anjum Shehzad Gujjar, President Raja Ejaz Ahmed, and Chairman Waseem Ahmed Mughal, stated that protests will continue until promotions recommended by the Departmental Promotion Committee are finalized and the sports allowance is distributed according to board decisions. They stressed that staff would no longer tolerate what they described as injustice and exploitation, warning management that further delays could lead to serious consequences.

The union revealed that their protest campaign is being run in phases, initially focusing on symbolic demonstrations such as wearing black armbands and organizing daily protest meetings. In collaboration with the National Labour Federation and other groups, the employees have stepped up their efforts and promised even larger actions if their concerns are not addressed.

Union leaders warned that if the Pakistan Sports Board administration continues to delay, the movement could escalate into a complete sit-in and lockout, and the administration will bear responsibility for any disruptions. They emphasized that the protests would persist until their legal entitlements, specifically promotions and allowances, are granted. Employees described the situation as a test of the administration’s commitment to fair treatment and worker welfare, urging management to resolve the issues to prevent further unrest.
