Ministers responsible for foreign economic and foreign trade activities from Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states met in Vladivostok under the chairmanship of Russia’s Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov to discuss deepening trade and economic cooperation. Delegations exchanged views on trade system support, supply-chain resilience, digital and green economy initiatives, and agreed a joint statement and an implementation plan on creative economy cooperation.
The meeting brought together heads of delegations to review progress and identify priorities for closer economic ties among SCO members. Participants focused on strengthening multilateral trade frameworks, enhancing the resilience of supply and manufacturing chains, and promoting trade innovation and technology development.
Delegates discussed the expansion of e-commerce and digital trade, and explored ways to integrate sustainable development and green industry goals into economic cooperation. The creative economy was highlighted as a new area of cooperation to boost cultural and creative industries across member states.
Deputy Secretary-General Suhel Khan underscored trade and economic cooperation as central to advancing dialogue and practical interaction among members. He referred to outcomes of the Tianjin Summit and noted recent statements aimed at promoting the digital economy, sustainable energy, green industry, and continued support for a multilateral trade system.
The meeting also included presentations on recent activities by the SCO Business Council and the Consortium of Economic Analytical Centers, providing analytical and business perspectives to inform policymaking and cooperation initiatives.
As a result of the discussions, ministers adopted a Joint Statement and approved an Implementation Plan for a Framework for Cooperation in the Development of the Creative Economy among member states. The next meeting of ministers will be held in Dushanbe.
