Aawaz II organised a District Dialogue in Khanewal on International Day of the Girl Child to advocate girls' rights and mobilise local action.

On the International Day of the Girl Child the SPO team behind Aawaz II organised a District Dialogue in Khanewal that brought together officials from government departments, civil society representatives and members of local communities to reflect on and advocate for the rights of the girl child.

The event opened with screenings of impactful Aawaz II videos that highlighted everyday challenges faced by girls, followed by a dynamic panel discussion where educationists, health workers and community leaders exchanged perspectives on practical measures to improve girls’ lives in the district.

Attendees participated in a Signature campaign that asked individuals to make a symbolic and personal commitment to treat girls equally, support their rights and work towards building an inclusive and equitable society. The campaign underscored the role of families and local actors in translating commitments into daily practice.

Participants mapped out actionable recommendations including stronger coordination among relevant departments to ensure policy coherence, intensified community-level advocacy to shift social norms, integration of digital skills training for girls within existing education frameworks and expanded access to health and protection services for young girls.

The Aawaz II team emphasised follow-up with local stakeholders to keep momentum after the dialogue and encouraged government and civil society partners in Khanewal to adopt the recommendations so that gains from the day become sustained improvements in access, safety and opportunity for girls across the district.
