Kazakhstan marks the 180th anniversary of the renowned poet and philosopher Abai Qunanbaiuly, celebrating his enduring influence on Kazakh culture and world literature. Abai is recognized as a key figure whose poetry and writings continue to inspire generations, promoting values such as love for the homeland, moral integrity, hard work, and the importance of knowledge and justice.

Abai’s most famous work, “The Book of Words,” delves into profound questions about life’s meaning, human nature, and finding harmony. This collection of essays and reflections is considered essential reading for personal growth, intellectual development, and the cultivation of an ethical society. His literary contributions have not only shaped Kazakh identity but also contributed to universal themes appreciated around the world.

For the first time, “The Book of Words” has been translated into all four official provincial languages of Pakistan: Pashto, Punjabi, Sindhi, and Balochi. This milestone was celebrated during the 12th meeting of the Kazakhstan-Pakistan Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technical and Cultural Cooperation, reflecting Abai’s growing international recognition.

The National Library of Pakistan in Islamabad recently held an official presentation of the translated work, introducing Abai’s philosophical insights to a wider audience in the Pakistani capital. These efforts highlight the shared emphasis on cultural exchange and educational collaboration between Kazakhstan and Pakistan, while cementing Abai Qunanbaiuly’s status as a guiding intellectual force across borders.
