RAWALPINDI: Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi inaugurated the newly renovated and upgraded auditorium of Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR) at a ceremony held on the university campus.
The auditorium has been equipped with modern facilities, state-of-the-art technology and an aesthetically improved interior. It will serve as a contemporary venue for academic, cultural and official activities at the university.
PMAS-AAUR Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Qamar-uz-Zaman, along with the registrar, deans, directors, faculty members, administrative officers and a large number of students, warmly welcomed the federal minister on his arrival.
The minister also participated in a festive procession and visited various stalls where students displayed technological innovations, academic projects and creative work. He later formally inaugurated the renovated auditorium.
Addressing the ceremony, Mr Abbasi congratulated Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Qamar-uz-Zaman, the university administration, faculty members, staff and students on the successful renovation and upgradation of the auditorium.
He appreciated the state-of-the-art technological facilities, modern infrastructure and beautiful interior design of the auditorium. He said politicians and public representatives had a duty to contribute to the development of educational institutions and ensure better opportunities and facilities for the youth.
The federal minister announced that an international-standard sports complex would soon be established at PMAS-Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi. He said efforts were also under way to further develop and improve sports facilities at the university, particularly the university ground, which is being used for academic, sports and community activities.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Qamar-uz-Zaman thanked the federal minister for his support and cooperation in the renovation of the auditorium and for the development of sports facilities at the university.
He said the university administration was committed to continuously improving infrastructure, providing students with modern facilities and ensuring a conducive educational environment.
The vice chancellor said modern educational institutions required not only quality classrooms and laboratories but also well-equipped spaces for academic interaction, conferences, seminars, cultural activities and intellectual engagement.
He said the renovated auditorium would serve as an important platform for academic and professional activities of the university.
