Pakistan Launches First AI Chatbot to Support Disability Inclusion
Pakistan marked a significant milestone in the drive for disability inclusion with the launch of the country’s first artificial intelligence chatbot dedicated to disability-related support and information. The NOOR AI Assistant, developed by the Special Talent Exchange Program (STEP), will provide instant and accessible information on services, rights, and opportunities for persons with disabilities nationwide.
The initiative is part of the CPTP Program, funded by the European Union and supported by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in collaboration with the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA). It is aimed at harnessing technology to empower individuals with disabilities and foster a more inclusive society.
NOOR AI Assistant is designed to answer queries in real-time, making vital information about disability rights and available services more accessible than ever before. STEP, along with its partners, highlighted the platform’s potential to bridge information gaps, help marginalized communities, and promote accessible futures for all Pakistanis.
Leaders from partnering organizations, government bodies, and the tech sector attended the launch event held at the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), commending the collaborative effort that brought this innovation to life. The project reflects a growing recognition of the need for technological solutions to accelerate disability inclusion and equality.
Organizers expressed gratitude to all partners, supporters, and community members, emphasizing that the launch of NOOR AI Assistant is a collective step toward building an accessible and inclusive Pakistan.
